QTerminals provides container, general cargo, RORO, livestock and offshore supply services in Phase 1 of Hamad Port, Qatar’s gateway to world trade. QTerminals was established to provide consistent, quality services to its clients and enable smoother trade flows internationally. With a focus on employing and retaining the brightest talents, QTerminals aims to be, within three years, the best terminal operator in the region in terms of overall quality of service and client satisfaction. Its long term vision is to be recognised internationally as the most reliable terminal operator and an enabler for the economic growth of Qatar.

HAMAD PORT

Container Terminal 1 (CT 1)

Container Terminal 2 (CT 2)

Expansion Plan

The CT2 development at Hamad Port is located immediately to the north of the existing Container Terminal – 1 (CT1) and will be operated by QTerminals. The area of CT2 (approximately 403,500 m2) is being developed in stages. The scope of work for this development includes the construction, installation testing and commissioning, maintenance and operation of various facilities including

  • Equipment such as Remotely operated Quay Cranes, RTGs, Reach Stackers, Empty Container Handler, Tractors and Trailers etc.
  • Utility as well as non-utility buildings such as Substation, Generator House, Amenity Buildings, Operations Building, Pumping facilities etc.
  • Other facilities such as Equipment Workshop Container Pits, RTG Washing facilities, Land Fuel Station, Reefer stack Gantries etc.

One of the key aspects of CT2 development is the use of environmental friendly technologies to facilitate sustainable development. The Quay Cranes being procured are regenerative type, which will be generating electricity during the lowering cycles. The Rubber Tyre Gantries are of Hybrid Type, which will be utilizing electric drives along with the conventional engine.
